Google Search Console insights you're probably missing

Search Console is free, and most of what it reports goes unread past the total-clicks number on the homepage. A few of its reports catch real, fixable problems a business owner would otherwise never know about.

The Coverage (Indexing) report

This is the one that catches pages Google has quietly stopped indexing — a service page that used to rank and just disappeared, often because of a redirect, an accidental noindex tag, or a crawl error nobody noticed. It's the single most useful report for figuring out why traffic dropped before assuming it's a ranking problem.

Average position vs. actual clicks

A page can average position 4 for a search term and still get almost no clicks, because average position blends every impression, including ones far down page two. Filtering by query and looking at click-through rate next to position — not position alone — is what shows whether ranking better would actually matter.

Core Web Vitals / Page Experience

Slow-loading or layout-shifting pages get flagged here specifically, tied to real user data rather than a lab test — worth checking before assuming a ranking drop is about content when it's actually load speed on mobile.

The Links report

Most owners never open this one, and it shows both internal links (which pages on the site link to which others, useful for spotting an important page that's practically orphaned) and top linking sites (the external sites Google already knows link back in). It's a free, if partial, read on the same kind of backlink picture a paid tool would otherwise charge for.

Setting up email alerts

Search Console can send a digest when new issues appear in Coverage or Core Web Vitals, instead of requiring a manual check-in. It's a small setting most people never turn on, and it's the closest thing to free, passive monitoring the tool offers on its own.
